Attempts were made by suffragettes to burn down the houses of two members of the government who opposed women having the vote. 2020-01-23 · Emmeline Pankhurst organized a window-smashing campaign throughout London's commercial districts in March 1912. At the designated hour, 400 women took hammers and began smashing windows simultaneously. Pankhurst, who had broken windows at the prime minister's residence, went to jail along with many of her accomplices.
